Welcome to the California Association of Black Lawyers’ 40th Annual Conference in Los Angeles, California where we will celebrate 40 years of service to the legal community!

The Conference will convene April 27th -30th, 2017 at the Marina Del Rey Marriott. I am extending a personal invitation to you to join us for this year’s convention as we will provide you with the opportunity to engage in continuing legal education (CLE) seminars, community outreach, as well as networking opportunities with distinguished leaders in our legal community and the community at large.

In continuing with this year’s theme, “The Tie that Binds: Community Consciousness in the Legal Profession,” I am pleased that we are featuring programs that will highlight current important issues in our community. We will also  showcase our scholarship program, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Drum Major for Justice Advocacy Competition, where high school students will advocate their positions on issues of importance.  In addition, this year, we are proud to present a law student with a $5000 scholarship to support our pipeline initiatives.

We also look forward to honoring esteemed judges who are legends in our community at our Judicial Luncheon on Friday, April 28th.  We are also excited to have you join us at the Installation & Awards Gala on Saturday, April 29th where we will honor leaders in our community including, but not limited to, Jerry Flannery of Hyundai Motor America and Judge Kevin Brazile of the Los Angeles Superior Court, amongst others.

Last but not least, we will have a robust 40th Anniversary Celebration including a “Walk Through the Decades” of CABL’s profound and robust history over the past 40 years.  It has been an honor and privilege to serve as the 2016-2017 CABL President. I hope you will join us and in doing so, help make this year’s convention a memorable event honoring CABL’s mission and legacy.

2016-2017 President
